Banting might work for you

I've dabbled with banting the last couple of years. I've restricted my carb intake quite religiously at times, and felt better for it and seen my running improve. But I've also found it hard to stick to as we have quite a busy house with lots of kids around, and other people who aren't limiting their carbs.

I've also seen a benefit recently of eating more fat and protein, but also not been as strict about avoiding bread, potatoes etc. If you don't have a health problem like diabetes there is clearly not a pressing need to restrict your diet as much. However, I have found it useful to keep an eye on the carbohydrate in my diet as it is so easy to eat too much, and put weight on.

I believe the most important thing is to eat food that is not processed as much as possible.

Things to eat:-

  1. Eggs
  2. Dark Chocolate
  3. Bananas
  4. Bacon
  5. Spinach
  6. Beef
  7. Bread - occasional, wholemeal/ granary or malted grain
  8. Nuts - almonds, pecans, peanuts etc
  9. Butter
  10. Coffee
  11. Cheese - cheddar, brie, red leicester etc
