Bits and pieces before Christmas

Doing my ironing. I'm getting reasonably quick now -- done 5 shirts in about 45 minutes -- so it won't take me long to do the rest. Hang on - how many have I got left? (going to look)Oh, 5 shirts left to do....plus one I messed up yesterday, that needs washing again. I knocked the temperature control by mistake then turned it down, and for some reason a load of dirt comes out of the iron when it's on a low temperature. Don't ask me, I thought it would be better for the shirts to iron them on a lower temperature.

Yes, it's nearly Xmas. Finished off the shopping earlier. Mad drivers on the roads -- pulling out in front of you without indicating, going too slow when they could go 60 miles an hour, loads of people driving round town. There were people parking on the pavement outside Sainsburys - I thought the car park must be full, but no there were plenty of spaces, so must have been a sale somewhere else.

Have been drinking more wine and beer over the last few days. Trying to relax before Christmas, and enjoy myself because we don't know what will happen over the next week - we are supposed to be having a child on respite, and we might have other emergency placements, but we are on call, and haven't been told anything definite. We may have some foster children here, and we may not. I don't like the uncertainty and hope things change for the better in the new year.
